Lend a Hand

Help Unlock their Second Prison

The Yellow Ribbon Project (YRP) was launched in 2004 as a national campaign to mobilise the community to raise awareness, generate acceptance and inspire action for the cause of giving ex-offenders a second chance of restarting their lives.

Upon release, many ex-offenders find themselves stepping into a second ‘social and psychological prison’ of stigmatisation and lack of support for their reintegration. Although rehabilitative interventions conducted during offenders’ incarceration can help prepare them for a ‘life outside prisons’, the real reintegration takes place within the community itself.

Will you lend a hand?

Over the years, community partners have co-created with YRP various meaningful projects and initiatives to build an inclusive society that supports the reintegration journey of ex-offenders and their families.  Together, we share a common belief that transformation of lives is possible through collective effort from the community. Anyone - individuals, schools and corporations - can contribute and show his/her support to the cause:

1. Volunteer

Volunteers play significant roles in rallying community support to build an inclusive society for the reintegration of ex-offenders. Make a difference today and contribute in the following ways:

  • Community Outreach: Be a YR Advocate and help spread the message of second chances.
  • Project support: Provide event management and logistical support at YR activities and roadshows.
  • Specialised Volunteering: Impart your skills and talents to beneficiaries or contribute towards the YR campaign.

3. Employ

Singapore Corporation of Rehabilitative Enterprises (SCORE) is a statutory board set up under Ministry of Home affairs as the lead agency for the reintegration of ex-offenders through employment.

Ex-offenders represent an untapped source of Singaporean talent for your company. SCORE provides training in relevant skill-sets, suitable job placements and job coaching from admission to beyond the initial transition period. This helps enhance the employability of inmates and ex-offenders, and facilitate their long-term development in the workplace.

By hiring them, you help them become contributing members of society and in turn reduce recidivism.
