Yellow Ribbon Fund STAR Bursary
Launched in 2010, the Yellow Ribbon Fund STAR (Skills Training Assistance to Re-start) Bursary aims to aims to provide bursaries to financially needy ex-offenders for vocational and skills training to help them achieve employment and self-sufficiency.
- Support exoffenders to build viable futures for themselves and their families through upgrading employability and self suffciency; and
- Prevent ex-offenders from reoffending and encourage them to be law abiding citizens; and
- Create positive role models and success stories of reformed exoffenders through vocational skills training and assistance; and
- Provide adequate financial support to needy exoffenders to facilitate their reintegration into society and family.
Eligibility
- Inmates who are due for release soon and wish to pursue training after release, as well as ex-offenders who have been released not more than 2 years before the time of application
- A monthly gross household income equal or below $2,500 or monthly gross per capita income not more than $650.
- An acceptance letter from their school, indicating the course of their studies
- Approved courses include those from WSQ SPUR, Shatec, ITE and Polytechnic courses.
- Applicants must be a Singaporean or Permanent Resident
