Yellow Ribbon Fair
September 30Held in the heart of the shopping district – Orchard Road – the Fair gave the public a first-hand feel of the rehabilitation programmes available to ex-offenders. The event was graced by DPM and Minister for Home Affairs, Dr. Wong Kan Seng.
A second fair held at Prison Link Centre gave visitors the opportunity to witness inmates’ talents, honed through exposure to rehabilitation efforts behind bars.
Yellow Ribbon Concert
September 22Inmates performed alongside well-known local celebrities to a packed audience of 6,000, moving many with their talent and heartfelt plea for acceptance. President S R Nathan was the Guest-of-Honour at the concert.
Wear-A-Yellow Ribbon Activity
September 1 – 30Many Singaporeans made a special effort to wear a Yellow Ribbon in the month of September as an act of acceptance and a show of support for ex-offenders and their families.
Celebrating Second Chances
September 11Reformed offenders who have remained crime or drug free were honoured in this ceremony. Special recognition was also given to individuals or organizations that helped in their transformation.
Yellow Ribbon Poetry & Story Telling Competition; Yellow Ribbon Song Writing Competition
June 14Inmates and ex-offenders showcased their talents by submitting their original compositions reflecting the themes of reconciliation, acceptance and forgiveness.
