Yellow Ribbon Community Truck 2015

The Yellow Ribbon Community Truck is a new initiative that brings the message of second chances to the community in a novel and engaging manner. The truck engages and educates the members of public through 3 segments:

Experience: Viewers will start in a room which is made to re-enact of the living conditions of the family of an inmate. In this segment, individuals will view a video depicting the true story of an ex-offender’s family, who went through years of darkness as they faced stigmatisation and discrimination, and did not know who to turn to for help. With the help of Yellow Ribbon Champions in the community, they were able to step out of the darkness and take control back of their life.

Contemplate: This section of the truck provides information about YRP and how it has provided a positive impact on the lives of inmates, ex-offenders, and their families. Individuals can also view about the volunteering opportunities available.

Engage: Helming the exterior of the truck are staff and volunteers who can answer questions about YRP and share their experiences with members of public. Volunteers include students, and volunteers from the Yellow Ribbon Community Project, who are grassroots volunteers who interact with and refer the families and children of inmates who are currently incarcerated to social assistance that they require.

To reach out to the community, the truck will be on the roads from 16 Oct 2015 to 25 Nov 2015 and visit areas such as schools, public buildings and community areas. Locations include Ang Mo Kio Hub, HDB Hub, URA Building, Bugis+ Civic Plaza, Sentosa, Gardens by the Bay, Polytechnics and the Home Team Festival 2015 which will be held in Singapore Expo.
